Biography

Mary Hawke was born in the Colony of South Australia (1836-1900)

Mary Louisa Hawke was born on 12 March 1870. She is the daughter of James Hawke and Elizabeth (Trewartha) Hawke.^[1]

A child was dual-registered, born on 27 July 1890, parents are Mary Louisa Hawke and Walter Burr. The child is registered and cross-referenced as Norman Leslie Hawke Burr^[2] and as Norman Leslie Hawke.^[3] He died, with his name registered as Normal [sic] Leslie Hawke aged 2 on 12 August 1892 at Kapunda, with the death registered by his mother.^[4]

She had not married when she died on 12 February 1901 at the age of 31 years at Kapunda.^[5] She was buried the next day in plot R34abc of the Kapunda Od Section of Kapunda Cemetery. The grave is marked but no headstone remains.^[6]
