Elizabeth (Gresham) Gray was born in Lincolnshire, England.
Elizabeth was baptised in June 1714 in Metheringham, Lincolnshire, England. She was the daughter of Robert Gresham and his wife, Susana.[1] Elizabeth was named in the will of her father Robert Gresham of Metheringham in 1741.[2]

Elizabeth married William Gray in Tattershall, Lincolnshire, in 1742. The groom was of Tattershall and the bride from Metheringham.[3] Their children were:

  • Robert, 1742/43[4]
  • Mary, 1743/44[5]
  • Elizabeth, 1745[6]
  • William, 1748[7]
  • John, 1749[8]
  • Ann, 1751[9]
  • John, 1756[10]
  • Thomas, 1759[11]

Elizabeth was named in the 1774 will of her brother, Robert Gresham, of Hare Booth as the wife of William Gray of Tattershall, along with her husband William Gray and son William Gray.[2] She was also named in the will of her brother, William Gresham, of Horsington, Lincolnshire, in 1781, with her children William Gray, Sarah Gray, Elizabeth Blow, Ann Sellers, John Gray and Thomas Gray.[2]

William Gray died a pauper in 1796. He was buried in Tattershall.[12]

Note on Elizabeth's baptism record, FMP has mistranscribed mother's name as Jane.

A possible burial in 1784 in Coningsby, aged 69?[13] William was buried in Tattershall. Fuller-8857 10:45, 10 March 2024 (UTC)

Heathcote-126 Stephen Heathcote
Gresham-1864 and Gresham-1817 appear to represent the same person because: Clear duplicate. Sorry, this didn't come up as a match because of different birth dates. The family wills prove that Elizabeth Gray was the daughter of Robert Gresham of Metheringham.
