Lydia Lee Green, known as Lilla (and later as Noanie by her grandchildren), was born at White Elm Street, Ipswich, Suffolk on 11 December 1874, the daughter of William Green and Lydia (Lee) Green (1841-1928).[1] She was baptised on 30 September 1876 at Chelmsford, Essex.[2]
At the time of the 1881 census Lydia (age 6), a Scholar, was with her family at Chelmsford, Essex, England.[3]
In the 1891 census Lydia (age 16), was working as a Dressmaker. The family were living at St Ives, Huntingdonshire.[4]
In 1901 the family were still in Congleton, living at 22 West Road.[10] Their first two children, William Rudyard (1899) and Freda Marjorie (1900) were both born in Congleton.
Their third child, Laurence Lee Duncalf, was born in Middleton, Lancashire. It is not currently known whether the family lived in Middleton.
By 1905, when their fourth child, Yestin Jack, was born, the family had moved to Woodbridge, Suffolk, where they remained[11][12] until about about 1915, when the family moved from Woodbridge to Dronfield, Derbyshire, where William took up a new job.[13]
William Orme died at Dronfield in 1921, aged 47 years.
Lilla passed away in Sheffield on 6 September 1952, aged 77 years.[15][16]

↑ A family connection with the Benoits was formed when Lydia's cousin, Ellen Lydia "Nelly" Clark, married Louis Armand Benoit in 1894. However, as Nelly and Louis lived in Essex, it is not yet clear which Benoit children Lydia used to look after.
