Margerite Elisa Folse was born about 1810 to Alexis Folse and Marie Marcellite Hotard, in St. John the Baptist Parish, Louisiana. [citation needed] The 1850, 1860 and 1870 census records have her birth date as about 1815.
According to researcher Elton Oubre, in 1823, at the young age of 13, she married Albert Drosin Hotard, son of Mathieu Hotard and Marie Marguerite Bourgeois.[1]
Researchers at Family Search have her birth date as 1815 and her marriage in 1828.
By 1850, they had moved to the section of Vacherie called Steibville.[3]
Oubre states on page 301 that Albert Hotard and Marguerite Elisa (Folse) Hotard lived at Golden Star Plantation in 1850. Golden Star Plantation is located in lower Vacherie, near Lac Des Allemands.[1]
In 1860, they were counted on the census in Lafourche Parish, Louisiana with five of their children.[4]
She was still there, with three of her children in 1870, but apparently widowed, as her husband Albert Drosin was not listed.[5]
