Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.
Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.
Thanks for taking responsibility for Orphaned Profiles. This is a courtesy email to share the After Adopting Orphans FAQ which explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need from their profile managers. One quick way to find the profiles you adopted is by searching your Contributions List for the word "adopted" and "manager." You can find a quick link to your Contributions List in the My WikiTree dropdown menu.
If you will be working with any profiles needing GEDCOM cleanup, the AGC tool can help with formatting so that you can concentrate on the research. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.
HI Debi, I am working on profiles that need GEDCOM cleanup, and learning to use AGC tool. My goal is to learn to clean up and format those GEDCOM profiles already existing before I upload my own GEDCOM profiles. I made the error of uploading 1000+ for my initial file.....then realized those were going to need a lifetime of work. Probably the mistake a lot of folks make when getting excited about contributing......
I'm glad you have found the AGC tool helpful. Like you, I also uploaded a large GEDCOM that I'm still working on. AGC has been so helpful. I will continue to use GEDCOM uploads but plan to create and complete one profile at a time with AGC as one of the tools to get there. Other tools that have been created, such as BioCheck, Sourcer, and BEE are also so helpful. You can learn more about those on the Apps page.
The lesson for me has been to learn one app at a time. Made a mess that I couldn't fix....that's when I learned of the small print at the bottom of the page ...,"delete without saving edits"... :-)
I am very pleased to welcome you to the WikiTree family, your contributions will go a long way to joining the world together.
It is best to start with the New Member How-To pages, they will save you a lot of time and frustration. Thank you for adding your DNA to WikiTree. Getting the Best from DNA will tell you more about how DNA kits are used on WikiTree.
I am here to answer any question you have, no matter how trivial you may think it is. There is no such thing as a silly question. Please add as much information as you can, it all helps to turn a “name” back into a person. I hope you enjoy the site as much as I do.
This is just a note to say hi and to let you know that I'm available to answer questions about WikiTree.

Unfortunately they don't have a WikITree profile yet, but we seem to be descended through the Youngs in multiple ways.

PS The link for your Ancestry tree isn't working. It says the invitation is expired. Here is a link to our help page on how to find working Ancestry links: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Links_to_External_Sites_and_Services
Thank you for the links!
