Biography

Joseph Alois (aka Josephi Aloysis, called "Alois") was born in 1786 in Canton Schwyz, Switzerland. He was the son of Simon Diethelm and Sibilla Züger. Since his parents were born and died in Vorderthal, Schwyz, Switzerland, assume he was born there too.

Alois married:

1) Katharina Mäder, (1789-1815) Oct 8, 1813 in Innerthal, Schwyz. Dtr of Johann Ulrich Mäder & Anna Maria Schwyter. They had one child.

2) Theresia Market, (1788-1840) on Mar 13, 1816 in Galgenen, Schwyz. Dtr of Johann Market & Anna Maria Krieg. They had 7 children.

Alois was a farmer and lived on Grabenegg farm, in the village of Galgenen, Canton Schwyz. He passed away in 1848.

Two of Alois and Theresia's sons left Switzerland in the 1850's and immigrated to Carver County, Minnesota, USA.
