Richard Cheney was the son of Richard Cheney and his wife Elizabeth Offley.
His surname appears as Cheney, Chaney, Cheyney, and possibly other spellings, in various sources.
Richard Cheyney II was baptized Jan 25, 1595 (old style calendar), at St. Mary Woolnoth Church, Lombard Street, London, England.[1][2][3]
1622 Marriage to Anne Elinor
On June 5, 1622 he married Anne Ellinor at St. John's Church, Hackney, London, England.[4] She was the daughter of Bartholomew Ellinor and Alice Effermont. She was born in 1603 and baptized at St. Catherine’s Church, London, and died June 3, 1622 in Kent, England.
1625 Death and Father's Will
Richard is named as deceased in his father's will, indicating he died before the date of the will, June 29, 1625.[5] However, there are other accounts which give 1633 as the date of his death. [citation needed]
The will of his father [[Cheney-350|Richard Cheyney of Hackney (d. 1625) names the following of his father's family members:
sons William (eldest son), Thomas, John;
daughter in law Elizabeth Offley;
loving wife Alice Cheyney;
"my late sonne Richard Cheyney deceased and Anne his wife";
sister Alice Worthington and her late husband Richard Worthington;
Richard Cheyney, eldest sonne of my sonne Willliam Cheyney;
William Cheyney sonne of my said sonne William
brother Elner and his wife
Bartholomew the sonne of my late sonne Richard Cheyney
Children of Richard Cheney and Anne Elinor
The 1625 will of his father, Richard, shows Richard the son to be already deceased. This will names only one child who is son of Richard, namely Bartholomew.
Research Notes
Did Richard and Anne have other children?
The will does not name a son Richard. If there was such a son, he died prior to the 1625 will.
It is not known whether Richard and Anne might have had other children. However, it is certain that these two, born after Richard's 1625 death, are not his children:
John Cheney, born 1680 in Anne Arundel County, Maryland.

I added the sources found and removed the children because they were born after this man was said to be dead in his father's 1625 will, naming his only child as Bartholomew. There is more research and work that needs to be done on this and other profiles.
Inclusion of the will here is a very important contribution. Many internet genealogies erroneously attach Richard Cheney (Cheney-1061), Immigrant to Anne Arundel County to this family. However, this will shows that the Richard who would have been the Anne Arundel Richard's father, only had one son, Bartholomew. Because the internet genealogies are so prevalent, I fear that someone will innocently try to connect these two families!
