Biography

In 1891 Samuel (14, born Bradford Wood, Cheshire) was a servant in the household of John Cross at Gorstage Lane, Weaverham, Cheshire. His sister Sarah Blake (1872-abt.1930) and her future husband John Royle (1872-1920) were servants in the same household [1].

Samuel (son of Thomas Blake) married Eliza Cliffe, daughter of Peter Cliffe, at Stretton (near Warrington) Cheshire on 10th October 1900 [2]

In 1901 Samuel (23, a Chemical Labourer) and Eliza (22) were visiting his sister Sarah Blake (1872-abt.1930), and her family at Little Leigh, Cheshire [3].

In 1911 Samuel (born Acton Bridge) was a Waggoner on a farm, aged 32, living at Millington, Cheshire with His wife, Eliza (31, born Whitley), his children Gertrude (9, born Little Leigh, Cheshire), Percy (7, also born Little Leigh), Leslie (4, born Barnton, Cheshire), Margaret Noreen, 2, born Millington, Cheshire and Martha Eliza, (0, also born Millington). Also in the household was his mother's half-brother, James Blake (1889-1960) [4]
