Biography

Mildred (Barrett) Collier was Born in Georgia.

Mildred was born 18 Feb 1909 in Meansville, Georgia, to Robert Lee Barrett and Mary Eugenia Aldredgs.^[1][2]

Mildred shows up first in the 1910 census, age 1, living with her family in Meansville, Georgia.^[3]

At the age of 11, Mildred appears in the 1920 census showing her mother as widowed. Most of her siblings have grown up and left home, leaving just a family of 4.^[4] Family lore stated that her father had left; in reality, he had died.

By the 1930 census, at age 21, Mildred is living in brother-in-law's household with sister, Mettie. ^[5] It is the beginning of the Great Depression in the United States.

On November 11, 1934, Mildred (age 25) marries her 2nd cousin, Harry Ottis Collier in Meansville, Georgia.^[6] They have 4 children:

1. Mary Carol Collier Adams (1936-2001)
2. Robert Harry Collier (b. about 1938)
3. Charles Barrett Collier (1942-1981)
4. James Michael Collier (1949-2015)

Per the 1950 Census (age 41), Mildred is married and living with her husband and children in Tampa, Florida. ^[7]

Mildred died of brain cancer on 23 Jan 1995, 3 days after the death of her husband.^[1] She died in Salisbury, North Carolina. She was buried with her husband in Tampa, Florida.^[8]
