Biography

Robert John Abel was born about 1901 in Echt, the son of George Abel and Mary Shepherd. He lived with his parents in both the 1901 census at Mennecht Cottage in Echt when he was 2 months old and the 1911 census at South Monecht Cottage in Echt. He married Etta Oswald on 14 Dec 1934 at the Commercial Hotel on Clerk St in Brechin, Angus. Etta, age 25, was a Shop Assistant living at 77 Market St in Brechin and Robert John was a 33 year old Police Constable. Witnesses were George Wilson and Isabella B Wilson. Robert John, a 67 year old Retired Police Officer, died 06 Sep 1968 at the Royal Infirmary in Dundee. His usual residence was 20 Tennis Rd in Carnoustie, Angus. He had a myocardial infarction and an acute myocardial failure. His son -in-law was the death informant but I cannot make out the written name.
