George Salley
11:14, 27 Dec 2017 Awarded by Paula J who wrote: My name is George Bull Salley, Jr., and my Salley family family came from Switzerland. They are listed in Faust and Brumbaugh, Lists of Swiss Emigrants in the Eighteenth Century to the American Colonies, The National Genealogical Society, 1925, Vol. II, p. 91. There the senior emigrant has the name Heini Sälin, or Säli, and his wife, Maria von Arx. Almost all the children are accounted for locally, mostly in Orangeburg County, SC. They came to Orangeburg in 1735, as a notation in Faust and Brumbaugh indicates: "From Heini Söhli of Zeglingen, who has gone to Carolina."

11:07, 27 Dec 2017 Awarded by Paula J who wrote: Hello! My husband's paternal grandmother's family is Swiss -- emigrating to the USA in the late 1800s. I am loading up his entire paternal side to the site from my FTM/Ancestry tree. Some of it is sourced, some of it is not. While I have been an off and on again user of WikiTree for years, my knowledge of style rules is limited. I find that I rarely have the time to do the serious editing needed to make the gedcom upload look presentable. I will try to hammer away at it of course, but be patient with me.

A group of Swiss-German immigrants met there to organize a society known as the "Swiss Colonization Society." Its purpose was to obtain affordable homesteads for mechanics, shopkeepers, factory workers and small farmers in a location where all could live in harmony.” (Wikipedia)
