Communication Preferences:
I am interested in communicating with
cousins and anyone else with an interest in genealogy.
Here is my family tree.
I'm recently retired. WooHoo!! I've been into genealogy for about 30 years now. I like history and I enjoy the hunt and discovery of new information on my ancestors and I thank my wife for putting up with my obsession. I can credit my paternal grandmother for sparking my interest in genealogy when she told me what her maiden name was, Pitsenberger. I thought wow, what a crazy name, tell me more and the rest is history. My bucket list of things to do is to travel to the homeland of my ancestors which includes Baden Germany, St.Gallen Switzerland and to Scotland.

Hi Glenn, This year 27 members signed up to Connect Soldiers during the 2024 January Connect-a-Thon, which resulted in 367 soldiers being connected to family!!!! We beat last years score by 67 soldiers. Thank you for participating :)
Glenn Rutz participated in the January 2024 US Civil War Project Connecting Challenge.
Hi Glenn, I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a marvelous New Year.
The Annual US Civil War January Challenge is to connect US Civil War Soldiers for the January Connect-a-Thon. This year will be a twist of what I usually do. Instead of you choosing a "Surname Letter", you will be choosing from a block of soldiers whom I've already screened that show they have family to connect. Each soldier has a connection to one or more of his immediate family--parents, siblings, spouses, children, on their profile. Whether you work on one soldier or your whole block of soldiers, it's one step closer in our goal to connect each of our US Civil War Soldiers. The goal is to make sure all these soldiers are connected at least by one or two degrees. You can sign up now by clicking this link: US Civil War Sign-up Chart
Glenn, Story-3318 and English-6785 have two different marriage dates in Ancestry.com. Tennessee, U.S., Compiled Marriages, 1851-1900 [database on-line]. Provo, UT, USA: Ancestry.com Operations Inc, 2000.
One is 26 Sep 1872 and the other is 17 Sep 1874. I think the 1872 date is probably correct as their son was born in 1874.
Hi Glenn, thanks for your info on the McKinnis Clan. I believe I am a descendant of Hugh McKinnis. His son Duncan B McKinnis settled in Indiana where I can trace back to me. I live in Cincinnati Ohio. My two sons and I are the last of this branch of McKinnis’. Would love to meet some cousins!
Thank you Glenn for participating in the US Civil War Challenge. You completed 75 profiles during the January Connect-a-Thon. There were 27 of us who signed up for the Challenge, completing 6,480 profiles.
The US Civil War February Challenge will be to create profiles for those soldiers who died during the Battle of Shiloh on the 7th and 8th of April 1862. If you're interested in joining another challenge, check out the US Civil War Challenge Page on February 1st.
Dang......only 75? I worked all day Friday, most of Saturday and some on Sunday. I must be super sloooow if 27 completed 6,480 and I only got to 75. But yes, I would like to help on the February challenge.
Hi Glenn, I hope you've been doing well this year. I've posted a new Challenge for the January 13th to 16th Connect-a-Thon. The Challenge is for members to work on US Civil War Soldiers during the Thon. If your interested here is a link to the Challenge Page: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:US_Civil_War_Project_Monthly_Challenges_Page

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Pre-1700_Profiles. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines laid out on that page.
