Hello!  I am looking for the parents of Colonel Edward Colwell.  He was born about 1695 in Virginia.  Around 1715 in Prince George County, Edward married Tabitha Hill (died after 9 September 1763).  They had three children:  Mary, John, and Anne.  In 1752, Edward purchased land in Edgecombe County, North Carolina.  He and Tabitha removed to there, as did John and John's wife, Sarah Wilkinson.  Edward died circa 1762.

Researchers Jack Lane Caldwell and Lin Caldwell have said that Edward's parents were a John Colwell who immigrated to Isle of Wight County, Virginia from England, and Mary Black, daughter of another English settler, John Black.  I can find no clear vital information on them, nor specific documentation linking Edward.  Thanks!

Even some unclear information on these parents might help

The William Petepool mentioned on Edward's profile is likely one of the Virginia and North Carolina Pettipooles.

Oops, sorry. That's already known.

The John attached as father at present can’t possibly be correct. Dates are all wrong and he is still in Cornwall having children in 1714.
