Did you ancestor live for any period of time in Chewton, Victoria, Australia?

Question

I have created a "Chewton, Victoria", Australia WikiTree page to help link ancestors who may have come from the same area together and perhaps link people together than are perhaps not related but that may have shared live experience together either in a similar street or in the same work place etc.

To see the page go to here http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Chewton%2C_Victoria  To include your ancestors profile it's easy just place the entire following text in their Biography section of their wikitree profile

[[Category:Chewton, Victoria]]

This will link them onto the page which will create a link back to their profile, and no text will be created in Biography just a link in the top section of thier profile.

It would be good under their biography after the link to say (if you know) what time span they lived in Chewton, note this information will not appear on the Chewton WikiTree page.

I will add the category to anyone I find who came from Chewton when adding entries in the Australian Cemeteries Project.

Would love to have someone photograph all the graves in Chewton so they can be added to a Chewton Cemetery page for the project. Any volunteers?

 

There are already 9  cemeteries for Victoria on WikiTree (and 3 more in the works).

Just so you know, I changed Category:Chewton to Category:Chewton, Victoria, to match our category naming standards.

Also, normally the city categories are used primarily for past residents of that city, so you don't really need to have Category:Past Residents of Chewton. Profiles of people who lived there can go right into Category:Chewton, Victoria.

Thanks again for your help I have removed "Chewton Category" and created the Chewton, Victoria as instructed and have updated the contents moving all the information from the old wiki page to the new one.  

I have also changed my original email post advertising the page just in case anyone comes across it later and doesn't read all the discussion - hope thats OK

Now I am wondering if I also need to change the Category for the Victoria wiki page to Victoria, Australia, if so I will do it now before anyone else uses the page and it becomes to difficult to change.  Let me know if I need to change the Victoria page.

Hi Sandra. No, you don't need to change Category:Victoria. For countries, provinces, and states, we use just the name by itself. It's only for cities, towns, and counties that you need the format Chewton, Victoria.
