There is another comment to this effect, citing French Wikipedia, which was posted in 2013. 

Please look in to this, as I am expanding two personal trees using WT as a guide, and don't want to have any avoidable problems...

There is quite a long discussion about this issue in Stewart Baldwin's article about Adelaide/Alix alias Blanch of Anjou (scroll down to the section 'The Family of countess Ermengarde of Auvergne')

The proposal Baldwin favours is the one by Stasser, which has Ermengarde as the same as Humberge, and wife of Guillaume, Vicomte of Auvergne, which I suggest we follow on WikiTree.

Unfortunately L. once you can take your personal tree back to the medieval period, problems like this are almost impossible to avoid.

Thanks, John. I know there is often more than one interpretation of the evidence, but I didn't know there were so many disconnected bits being strung together in this case. It doesn't help when my brain turns to mush, either!
