When their first child, Viktoria, is born on 10 December 1826 he is referred to as day laborer ("Tagelöhner") from Fohrenbühl in Schwanenbach, a small part of Vöhrenbach (not to be confused with parts of Reichenbach near Hornberg also carrying these two names).[3] Same goes for the birth of Maria, the second child, born on 2 August 1828.[4]
In October 1832, when the first son Martin is born, information about the residence is obmitted and Anton is clock cover painter ("Schildmaler").[5] Same goes for the birth of Maria Anna (1834),[6] Paulina (1838)[7] and Ignatz (1840).[8] The record of Ignatz' death in1840 is alike[9] sames goes for Paulina's death in 1845.[10]
In spring 1854 Anton's son Martin was on one of the two ships that carried the first settlers for what would later become St. Nazianz colony in Manitovoc County, Wisconsin.[11]
By 1856 Anton himself had a arrived there,[12] which explains why he was recorded absent and without known residence, when his daughter Maria got married in Sentheim, Alsace, in 1858. Anton's wife was present at the wedding though and recorded as living in Sentheim by the time, just like her daughter.[13]
In summer 1870, when the census was recorded, Anton was living with Maria and her family,[14] while his wife is living in the nunnery.[15]
Anton passed away in 1871.[16][17] Like his wife, who survived him by three years, he is buried at St. Gregory Catholic Cemetery in St. Nazianz, Town of Eaton.[18]
In theory it should be quite easy to find the marriage record[2] also in the church book duplicates of the area. These books are per political community, while the church books in the FamilySearch collection are per parish. In theory the record should be in one of the political communities belonging to the catholic parish of Vöhrenbach. According to Hermann Franz those were "Langenbach, Herzogenweiler bis 1869 (s Bregenbach u Schönenbach)".[19] If the year was transcribed wrong it would roughly be between 1814 and 1826 when their first child was born.
Vöhrenbach had three marriages in 1825, but none fits. There is also no match between 1814 and 1826.[20]
Herzogenweiler has no marriages in 1825 and no matches until including 1821[21]
Langenbach has one marriage in 1825, which doesn't match and no matches from including 1814 until 1826[22]
Schönenbach which Franz also mentions also has no matched between 1814 and 1826.[23]
Bregenbach doesn't have a marriage in 1825 and no match in 1826[24]
Hammereisenbach also had no marriages in 1825.[25]
Also nothing at all villages in the book for Triberg and nothing in Unterkirnach[26]
Does one of the book contain more than one village?
Langenbach has a Johann Zähringer getting married in 1821[27] and again in 1824[28] His father was Johann Georg Zähringer, maybe a relative?
