Biography

Elizabeth (Betsy) Williams was born in 1762, Richmond, Virginia and she died in 1850, Smith, Tennesee. She was the daughter of Luke Wlliams (1738-1810), Halifax, Virginia and Katherine Lucy Barber (1740-1810). Elizabeth Williams married George W. Twidwell (1765-) in Halifax County, Virginia. had one son: Obediah Twidwell (1787-1860)

I wrote a book on this family in 1974, author, Dona (Floyd) Vance, copyrited in Washington, D.C. This book is also located in libraries in Georgia,Texas, and the Chamber of Commerce, Jasper County, Georgia. This book is still available fromm the author, Dona (Floyd)(Vance) Kimmons, who is a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, DAR # 0763837, Elijah Cornwall, Jacob's Well Chapter, Wimberley, Texas. There are also DAR records on Luke Williams, b. 1738, Halifax County, Virginia, the BARKSDALE DAR records, which are located in the National Headquarters in Washington,D.C. This family are also members of Americans of Royal Descent, Dames of the Magna Carta, DAR and Colonial Dames.
