Biography

Vincenzo Vutera is born and baptized on 19 December 1869 in Corleone, the son of Giuseppe Vutera and Calogera Colletti. HIs godparents are Giovanni Cusimano and Giovanna Marino, a married couple.[1]

He emigrates with his first cousin, who has the same name, and his cousin's mother on the Trimveria (or the Trinacria, depending on your source), arriving in New Orleans on 7 November 1892. About two dozen passengers, listed in series, are not identified by last town of residence on the manifest, but I have identified most of them as individuals from Corleone. His mother and younger brother emigrate to New Orleans in 1894.

Vincenzo returns to Corleone by 1906, when he marries Vincenza Macaluso, daughter of the late Vincenzo Macaluso and the living Concetta Baglio, on 28 June 1906 in Corleone. This couple obtains dispensation to wed, required due to third degree consanguinity. Vincenzo's father has died.[4]
