Biography

Rosalia Governali is baptized as Rosolia Grimaldi, daughter of Octaviano Grimaldi and Vita Castro.

Based on other similar names in records of this time, I believe both parents' names have been mangled in this baptismal record, and are actually Ottavio (Octavio in Latin) Governali and Vita Cascio. Their names are recorded this way in the 1894 marriage of their son, Girolamo, to Antonina Caruso. In this baptismal record, Grimaldi has been inserted after the fact. Castro is commonly confused with Cascio in these records; see the [[Category:Cascio_Name_Study |Cascio Name Study]] for a discussion of versions of the last name.

Rosalia is born 20 August 1888 and baptized Rosolia the next day. Her godmother is Carmela Mangano, who is unmarried.

On the Trimveria, arriving in New Orleans in 1893, these passengers are destined for New Orleans. Their last place of residence, contact people, are not recorded.
