[1] She was baptised on 4 April 1838 in Astbury, Cheshire, England.[2][3][4] In the 1841 census Mary (age 6) was in Astbury, Cheshire, England.[5] In the 1851 census Mary (age 13) was the unmarried daughter of Levi Thorley in Back Lane Westheath, Congleton, Cheshire, England.[6]
