Biography

Ruth was baptised on 21 February 1836 in Astbury, Cheshire, England.^[1][2] In the 1841 census Sarah (age 8) was in Astbury, Cheshire, England.^[3] In the 1851 census Ruth (age 16) was the unmarried daughter of Levi Thorley in Back Lane Westheath, Congleton, Cheshire, England.^[4]

She married James Duckworth in 1857 in Congleton, Cheshire.^[5][6]

At the 1861 census, she was a miner's wife, living in Odd Rode, Cheshire.^[7]

In 1891, she was a widow, living with her widowed mother, Hannah Thorley, in Congleton, Cheshire.^[8]
