Francesco Streva, possidente (landowner), the son of Paolo Streva and Laura Paternostro, is born on 7 February 1819 in Corleone and is baptized the same day. His godparents are Antonino Puccio and his wife, Lucia.[1]
Don Francesco marries Donna Giovanna Catalisano, daughter of the late Don Raffaele Catalisano and Donna Carmela Termini, on 23 September 1867. Donna Giovanna was born in Canicatti and has been a resident of Agrigento, both in Agrigento province, for three years when she marries Don Francesco in Corleone. Francesco's father has died by this time.[2]
Children
Don Francesco and Donna Giovanna have at least three children: Giovanni (1866), Paolo (1870), and Antonino (1880).
Giovanni is born out of wedlock on 17 August 1866 at his parents' home on via San Leonardo. His parents' marriage in September 1867 legitimizes his birth.[3]
Paolo is born 25 September 1870 and baptized two days later, named after his paternal grandfather. His godparents are Don Antonino di Gregorio and procurator Don Luigi Sferlazzo from Palermo.[4]
Antonino is born and baptized 24 February 1880. His godmother is Laura Streva, unmarried daughter of the same Francesco.[5]
By the time Paolo is nineteen years old, he is reported to be stealing cattle in partnership with Giuseppe Morello.[6]
In April 1893, Giovanni, agricoltore (gentleman farmer), age 26 (b. 1867), marries Dona Ana Clara Costa, a native of Pirai, Brazil, where they both reside.[7]
At age 23 Paolo, a land owner (possidente), marries Anna Giovanna Streva, his first cousin, once removed. Their marriage is published in the civil record on 22 December 1893. One of the witnesses is Giuseppe Battaglia, president of the Fratuzzi around this time.[8] Paolo and Anna Giovanna marry in the Church on 11 January 1894. Consanguinity is detected, and a dispensation received on 2 January 1894.[9]
Death
Francesco, possidente, dies at the age of 77 in his home on via Bentivegna, 97 in December 1895. He is survived by his wife, Giovanna Catalisano. He is predeceased by his parents.[10][11]
