Biography

Christopher Smithson was born in Moulton, Yorkshire, England.

Christopherus Smithson, the son of Georgij Smithson de Moulton, Armigeri, was baptised on 28 April 1670 in St Michael & All Angels Church, Middleton Tyas, Yorkshire, England.^[1][2]

He was apprenticed in 1686, to Joshua Roddam of Newcastle-on-Tyne, Merchant, Adentr.; afterwards resident a Scorton, heir to his brother John Smithson.^[2]

He passed away in 1702 and was buried June 19, 1702 at Scorton.^[2]

His will was proved at York.^[2]

He was the last surviving of the sons of George Smithson, Esq., M.P.^[2]
