Biography

• Annie’s father died in the Civil War. Her mother later married George Heisler.

In 1870, Annie lived in West Hempfield, Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The household included George, 30, a farmer whose father was of foreign birth, and who had $150 in personal assets; his wife Anna E. (Elizabeth), 28; their son Reuben, 2; Annie Shissler (Elizabeth’s daughter), 8, in school, and with $600 in personal assets (probably her father’s Civil War death benefits); Benjamin L. Hempfield, 17, who worked the farm, and Charles Heisler, 22, with $100 in personal assets. Reuben and Ellie/Robert were in school. All members of the household were born in Pennsylvania. ^[1]

In 1880 Annie lived in East Hempfield, Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The household included George, (40), a stone mason; his wife Lizzie, 39; their two children Ellie (Robert), 6; and Alice, 3; George’s father, 69, listed as Heisler Heisler; and Annie Shissler, 18, George’s stepdaughter (Elizabeth’s daughter), who was working as a servant. All members of the household were born in Pennsylvania. ^[2]

• Annie is the daughter of Jacob M. Shissler and Ann Eliza Reese. Annie married Emanuel K. Baker. She died in 1936, and is buried at Silver Spring Cemetery, Columbia, Pennsylvania (death certificate info notedbon her father’s FindAGrave page).^[3]
