Ida Margaretha Dorothea was born in 1854. She is the daughter of Jochim Scheel and Anna Magdelena Sophia Stender.

- The German Rootdigger website lists Jochim Scheel and Anna Magdelena Sophia Stender, having daughters, Ida and Catherine, and son, Christian. The family (except Christian who had emigrated two years prior) would leave Hamburg & Havre, Germany on the ship "Horatio". Jochim was 53, Anna 45, Ida 21 and Catherine was 14. They would arrive in New York City on April 28, 1875.[1][2][3]
