Jochim was born about 1822. He passed away in 1900.
The German Rootdigger website lists Jochim Scheel and Anna Magdelena Sophia Stender, having daughters, Ida and Catherine, and son, Christian. Also listed on Rootdigger is his father, Claus Hinrich Scheel and mother Magdalena Christina Hingst. The family (except Christian who had emigrated two years prior) would leave Hamburg & Havre, Germany on the ship "Horatio". Jochim was 53, Anna 45, Ida 21 and Catherine was 14. They would arrive in New York City on April 28, 1875.[1][2][3]
In the 1880 United States census, Jochim Schaal was a 58 year old widower, listed as a farmer in Fort Calhoun, Washington County, Nebraska.[4]
On July 23, 1881,Katherine Scheel married Fred Moeller in Douglas County, Nebraska. Joachim was listed as the father of the bride and Anna Stender was listed as mother.[5][6][7]
Found in The Pilot, Blair, Nebraska: "The father-in-law of Fritz Moeller was buried here from Douglas County this week"[8]
