Biography

When Maria Concetta Petranella was 20 years old, she left Corleone, Provincia di Palermo, Sicilia, departing from the Port of Palermo, Provincia di Palermo, Sicilia, Italia on the ship Archimede. The captain of the ship was Domenico Viola. She arrived 11 October 1883 in America at Castle Garden, in the Port of New York, along with her sister Arcangela (Angeline) Petranella [Paternostro] and her brother Luca Petranella and his friend Mike Pomaro. They then traveled south by steamer and railway to Bryan, Brazos County, Texas. Their last name was spelt as Petronella on the ship's manifest. Maria married Mike Pomaro in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas 17 January 1884. Maria and Mike never had children.

She is buried in Bryan City Cemetery, Bryan, Texas. ^[1]
