Biography

Sarah Palmer, daughter of William Palmer and Esther Taber, was born on 15 Feb 1738/9 in Freetown, Bristol, Massachusetts. [1]

Consider King of Rochester entered on 25 Oct 1760 at Freetown his intention of marriage to Sarah Palmer. [2]

They settled in Rochester, where they had 6 sons and 3 daughters born 1761-1779 before Consider King sold his homestead in Rochester in a deed dated 06 Apr 1779, [3] and moved his family to Hillsdale, Columbia, New York where 2 children; both daughters, were born in 1781-1784, and Consider King died on 16 Mar 1786. No birth or baptismal records for any of their 11 children have been found.

Widow Sarah (Palmer) King remained in the household of son Beriah King in the 1790 and 1800 US Census for Hillsdale, Columbia, New York. Beriah King and his mother Sarah (Palmer) King were listed as charter members of the nearby Green River Congregational parish on 21 Mar 1792. [4]

Green River Congregational granted them a dismissal to Coeymans, Albany, New York on 16 Jul 1800. [5] They joined other King family members who had moved to Coeymans, including daughter Sarah (King) Greenleaf, whose husband Samuel Greenleaf had been a bachelor household head in the 1790 US Census of Hillsdale, Columbia, New York. The extended family migrated to Scipio, Cayuga County, New York in 1805-1807, where Sarah (Palmer) King lived out her life in the household of son Beriah King and died on 28 Dec 1814.
