Antonino Navarra is born 29 April 1818 and baptized the next day. He is the son of Nunzio Navarra and Margherita Puma. His godparents are Biagio and Antonina Birtone, a married couple.[1]
Antonino has two older brothers named Antonino, and one named Antonio, who are all presumed to have died in infancy. See the Cascio Family Space for a short discussion on naming conventions.
Antonino marries Innocenza Cutrera, daughter of Leoluca Cutrera and Lucia Marino, on 7 February 1841 in Corleone.[2][3]
Antonino and Innocenza have at least three children: Giuseppe (1843), Margherita (c. 1862), and Francesco Maria (c. 1867).
Giuseppe is born in his parents' home on via S. Giovan Battista in Corleone, on 23 May 1843. Antonio is 25 (b. 1818), agricola (farmer), and Innocenza Cutrera, is 22 (b. 1821). His birth is reported by the midwife, Francesca Paola de Luca, age 39.[4]
I estimate Margherita is born around 1862, twenty years before she marries. She is named after her paternal grandmother.
I estimate Francesco is born around 1867, twenty years before he marries.
Giuseppe marries Maria Antonia Giuffrida on 13 February 1871.[5]
Giuseppe dies at the age of 29 in January 1872. His wife Maria Antonia survives him.[6]
Margherita marries Gaetano Palumbo on 28 November 1882.[7]
Francesco Maria marries his first cousin Bernarda Rao on 16 January 1887. Second degree consanguinity is detected, and a dispensation obtained for this marriage, on 24 December 1886.[8][9]
Innocenza's brother, Salvatore, is a capo in the Mafia in Corleone, and the boss from around 1893-1900. Innocenza and Antonino are the grandparents of future Mafia boss Dr. Michele Navarra.
