Margaret was born in 1843. She was the daughter of George Miller and Amelia Munro. Her middle name was most likely Sarah, a name she used in two census records. A marriage document given to the couple lists her name as Maggie S. Miller. The Miller family moved from Cooksville, near Toronto north to Owen Sound in the 1850s. Maggie married farmer Samuel Horton in 1871. His farm was located in Derby, north Grey County. They had at least eight children. In 1906 Samuel and Maggie had relocated to Winnipeg, Manitoba and were living with their son George. In 1913 with son Harry Horton, Margaret and Samuel emigrated to Los Angeles, California. Maggie died there in 1930. Her gravestone in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale gives her name as Margaret Amelia Horton, 1843-1930. Since her mother's name was Amelia this might have been a tribute by her family as there is no other indication that Amelia was her middle name, but since it is on her grave it has been added here.
Obituary: The Winnipeg Tribune, 22 July 1930, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. "Mrs. Margaret Horton, 86, wife of S. Horton and mother of G. E. Horton of Winnipeg who died July 12 in Los Angeles, Cal., was buried July 16 in Los Angeles."
Mentioned in her father's will
From the will of George Miller dated May 4, 1889: "...unto my daughters Margaret Horton and Maria McIntosh as tenants in common the North half of Lot number Twenty on the East side of Scrope street in the said Town of Owen Sound.." The will went on to explain that George might be indebted in the amount of $450 at the time of his death and Margaret Horton's share of the debt would be $50 to be paid within a year of George's death or Margaret would be "deprived of all benefit under the will." The same conditions were applied to George Miller's other children who were to receive property. Scrope street became 3rd Avenue East in 1909.

Miller-92350 and Miller-56582 appear to represent the same person because: Same birth, same death, same name, same husband. Faith and I are half 3rd cousins. Maggie (Miller) Horton was my great grandfather William Miller's half sister.
