Samuel was born in 1843 to Samuel Horton and Ann Powell. Samuel was a farmer. He married Margaret Miller in 1871 [1] and they had, at least, eight children. As a retired couple they moved to Winnipeg, where they lived with son George Horton, then moved to Los Angeles in 1913. In the 1920 Census Samuel and Maggie Horton were living with their son Harry and his wife Myrle. Samuel died a year after his wife, in 1931. He was buried at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, Los Angeles County, California.
