In the 1900 federal census of Manhattan, New York, taken 13 June, Casimiro Ruffino (“Rafino”), born in August 1852, age 47, heads a household at 330 East 74th St. with his wife Paula, born in May 1860, age 40, their sons Rosario, born in December 1881 (actually in March 1882), age 18, and Vincenzo, born in February 1885, age 15; and a boarder, Domenico Lima, born in May 1882 (actually, in September), age 18. They were all born in Italy and emigrated in 1899. Casimiro, Rosario, and Domenico are day laborers, Paula is a tobacco stripper, and Vincenzo is a barber.[4]
