Biography

William King was born in 1801. He is the son of William King and Harriot DeWolf.[1]

He was born in Rawdon, Nova Scotia. In 1822 earned his BA, and in 1825 MA with King's College School Windsor NS. In 1825 appointed Fellow Tutor @ King's. On 29 May 1825 ordained Deacon by Bishop of London @ Chapel Royal, St James Palace. On 19 Feb 1826 ordained Priest by Charles Inglis @ St Paul's Halifax NS. By1826-7, 1832-4 VP of King's Windsor NS. In 1832 ordained a visiting missionary of the Society Propagation of the Gospel. In 1834 William married & may have been married twice before. On 29 Dec 1835 appointed principal of King's Collegiate School Windsor.[2] and on 1 Mar 1836 the new term opened[3] -1 Jul 1847 ended his term as principal of King's Collegiate School Windsor NS[4]c1836 traveling missionary in NS. c1847 rector in Parrsboro, NS, St George's Church of England. He was affectionately known as Parson King. The east window was (c1865) dedicated to him.

He married 18 Aug 1834, Alida Yates. She was born 25 Dec 1808 and died in 1894.

B., clergyman, 69, Alida Y., 62, born U.S., Winfield Y., merchant, 35, Benjamin D., merchant, 31, Elizabeth, 21, [wife of Benjamin], William B., 1, [son of Benjamin], Hannah Hodges, servant, 62, Julia Bishop, servant, 20 and Catherine Gourley, nursery maid, 16, were residing in Mill Village, Cumberland Co., Nova Scotia.[5]
