Biography

Harry King was born in 1807. Harry is the child of William Cosell King and Harriot (DeWolf) King.

Harry King was the child of William Cosell King and Harriot (DeWolf) King.

Harry King (7 Jul 1807-23 Oct 1865) = c1832 Margaret Halliburton (Halli) Fraser (c1813-9 Apr 18 Harry was born in 1807 probably in Nova Scotia.

He attended and graduated from King's College, Windsor NS. He passed his matriculation on 6 May 1822, earning a Doctor of Civil Laws.[1]

He practiced as a barrister in Windsor, NS. His office was located where the Somerset House Hotel was located in 1922.[2]He served as a judge of the Hants County Probate Court.

In 2 Nov 1831 in Hants County NS, he married Margaret Halliburton (Halli) Fraser.[3]

By 1841 he was a director of the Bay of Fundy Steam Navigation Company.[4]

By 1840~1852 was a 1st Lieutenant and Paymaster with the 1st Battalion, Hants Co militia.[5][6]

In 1849 secretary-treasurer of the Avon River Bridge Co, Windsor NS.[7]

By 1849 an annual and permanent fund subscriber to King's College, Windsor, NS.[8]

In 1863 he was a petitioner for the incorporation of the Windsor Marine Insurance Co.[9]

During the presidency of Rev. George McCawley he was 1 of 12 Governor of the King's College, Windsor.[10]

He passed away 23 Oct 1865 probably in Windsor of paralysis[11][12]and was buried in the Old Parish Burying Ground Windsor NS. Find a Grave claims date of death as the 24th which probably was the date of burial. His death registration claims the 23rd of which I am giving precedence.[13][14]
