Dorothy (King) Bowen was born in Somerset, England.

Dorothy Joan King was born in 1884 in Burnham, near Axbridge, Somerset, England, United Kingdom. She was the daughter of Albert King and Charlotte Dye. ^[1]

Dorothy married Otway Bowen before 1909.

Dorothy (King) Bowen migrated from England to New South Wales.

They moved to Canada, settling in a log cabin in Summerland, Okanagan-Similkameen, British Columbia. There, they had two sons. About 1913 the family migrated to Australia, settling near Gunnedah, in northern New South Wales, where he ran a sheep station. A son was born there. When drought bit too harshly the Bowens moved into Sydney, about 1915-16, with Otway becoming an accountant; with a fourth son born soon afterward.
