Dorothy Joan King was born in 1884 in Burnham, near Axbridge, Somerset, England, United Kingdom. She was the daughter of Albert King and Charlotte Dye. [1]
Dorothy married Otway Bowen before 1909.
They moved to Canada, settling in a log cabin in Summerland, Okanagan-Similkameen, British Columbia. There, they had two sons. About 1913 the family migrated to Australia, settling near Gunnedah, in northern New South Wales, where he ran a sheep station. A son was born there. When drought bit too harshly the Bowens moved into Sydney, about 1915-16, with Otway becoming an accountant; with a fourth son born soon afterward.
Having been widowed for eighteen years, Dorothy passed away in 1973 in Sydney's northern suburbs. [2]
