Between 1867 and 1870 his family moved to Oconto, Wisconsin and he married his wife Olive Meiers[2] (21) and they had a child John (0) [3].
By 1880, His family consisted of Olive (33), James (11), John (8), William (7), and Mary (3) and they had moved to Peshtigo[4]
On 2 April 1892 his son James married Serenna Plase in Pound, Marinette, Wisconsin[5]
On 13 February 1893 he married his second wife Emma (Dickie) Rames Bottani in Dickinson, Michigan[6]
On 30 March 1899 his son James married his second wife Hattie May Calhoon[7]
In 1910, James was widowed and he was living in Harris, Menominee, Michigan with his son William's (36) family including Williams wife Nellie (38) and child Eddie (13) [8]
James died on 15 October 1932 in Wells Township, Michigan [9]. He is buried in Harmony Cemetery in Marinette County, Wisconsin [10]
