Weldon was born in Orange County, North Carolina on August 10th, 1893. He served in the North Carolina National Guard during World War I, and worked in hosiery mills the rest of his life. According to his 1917 draft registration card[1], he was married and living and working in a Burlington, NC hosiery mill. In the 1920 census, he's living with his family in Graham, NC. He's moved back into Burlington on Flanner Street for the 1930 census.[2] 1940 finds him in the Hemp Town area of Robbins, North Carolina, with his four sons and daughter Frances and grandson Ronnie living with him.[3] That census indicated he lived in the same place in 1935. In the 1950 census, he's a rayon mill foreman in Robbins, NC, lodging in the Crabtree household.[4] He died suddenly in 1963 at UNC Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, with his home address listed as 809 Buckner Street in Graham.[5] He was buried at Tabernacle Methodist Church cemetery in Robbins, beside his wife Maggie.[6] In his will, he named daughter Erma King Kimball his executor, and dramatically left $1 to each of his children except for her. She received essentially everything he had, including some land around Robbins.[7]
