Biography

Charles was the son of John King and his second wife Rebecca Moss, widow of Maj. William Ellison Armistead.

Marriage

He married Elizabeth Tabb, daughter of Thomas Tabb II.

Children

  • Miles King, b.1747
  • Hannah King, born April 4, 1751, married Mr. Westwood ;
  • Charles King, born May 17, 1753 ; ,
  • Eliza King, born September 24, 1754.
  • Mary King, b. ~1755; married Colonel Francis Mallory, of Elizabeth City County. Her will was proved January 20, 1789, and mentions children, Elizabeth King Mallory, Mary King Mallory, Charles King Mallory, and Diana Wray — the last probably a stepchild;
  • John King, merchant of Hampton, lieutenant in State line and a naval officer of James River in 1776. He married, 1st, in 1774, Molly Starke, and later Anne, which last survived him and married, secondly, Seth Foster. In 1805 J. K., had issue surviving him, John Starke King and Miles King;

Death and Will

Charles King, died about 1761.

Charles' will is registered in the Chancery Papers in 1762. His widow, Elizabeth, later married James Westwood. There were then living of the children, according to a division of Charles King's slaves: Mary King, Miles King, John King, Hannah King and Elizabeth King — all under age.King Family of Virginia
