Captain Miles King Sr. served with 1st Virginia Provincial Regiment (1775), Continental Army during the American Revolution.
Miles was born Nov 2 1747,[1] son of Charles and Elizabeth (Tabb) King.[2]
Miles served in the American Revolution (the following may not all be for the same Miles King due to two distinct entries[3]):
served as a Surgeon's Mate in the 1st Virginia Regiment, Oct 26 1775,[4] but retired Sep 14 1778.[2][5]
made Captain of the Minutemen[3] 20 August 1776. When Cornwallis took Yorktown in 1781, he was captured but soon obtained parole.

Miles married 2nd Martha Kirby / Kerby Apr 27 1782 in Elizabeth City County, Virginia. Martha was the daughter of Thomas and Sarah Kerby. Martha was living in Jan 1837 when she applied for Miles' pension. Children with Martha were:[2]

Miles died Jun 19 / 20 1814, age 67, in Norfolk, Connecticut.[9][1] His widow, while residing in Norfolk, Virginia, applied for pension Jan 1837, age 71.[2]
He is buried in Saint Paul's Episcopal Churchyard, Norfolk, Norfolk City, Virginia.[10][1]
