Biography

Katherine Janet Hunt was born in Horfield, Gloucester, England on 10 Feb 1866.^[1] She was christened on 30 Mar 1880, at Horfield. Her parents were Nathan Hunt and Jane Inch.

At the time of the 1871 England and Wales Census, Janet was age 5, living with her parents Nathan and Jane and younger brothers Wallace and Henry at 11 Belmont Terrace, St George, Gloucestershire, England.^[2] Nathan was 28, working as a cashier at Bristol Water Works. The family had a general domestic servant, Louisa Phillips, age 18. Janet's mother Jane Hunt died in 1880, when Janet was about 14 years old.^[3] In 1881 when Janet was 15 she lived with her widowed father and six younger siblings, ages 13-2.^[4] The family lived at 45 City Road, Saint Paul, Bristol, and a housekeeper Elizabeth G Cade (45) lived with them. A lady, Frances H Roper (24), was visiting.

Janet married Samuel Henry Wright on 14 September 1892 in Bristol, Gloucester, England.^[5][6] Samuel was 32; Janet was 26.

Janet and Samuel Henry lived in 3, Clifton Place, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, England at the time of the 1901 census.^[7] Samuel Henry was a grocer and seedsman, and employer. The couple had four children, ages 7 to 1. Katharine's cousin Elsie Ellen Stokes (1874-) (26) was visiting, and the family employed a domestic servant, Fanny Betts (17).

At the time of the 1911 England and Wales census, Janet was 45.^[8] They lived at 89 Western Road, Brighton, over the shop where husband Samuel Henry was a family grocer, age 51. The couple had had seven children living withthem, ages 17-1. One child had died.

Janet died in York in 1955, age 89.^[9]
