Biography

Louis Hulin has French origins.
Louis Hulin has German Roots.

Louis Jacques Hulin was born on or before his baptism date, 2 September 1753, at Côte des Allemands on the Mississippi River (now St. Charles Parish), in French colonial Louisiana, to Jacques Louis Hulin, of "Pays des Illinois" and Catherine Toups of des Allemands, Louisiana.[1]

His marriage to Marie Josephte Champagne on June 15,1784 was recorded at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville, Louisiana.[2] The record has the bride's name wrong; she was Marie Josephte Champagne, daughter of Jean Louis Champagne and Marie Barbe Folse.

Known children of the marriage:

  1. Catherine Hulin (1785), a twin (m. Gaspard Menard)[3]
  2. Marie Josephe Hulin (1785), twin (m. François Dore)[4]
  3. Louis Hulin (1787-1788)[5]
  4. Julienne Hulin (1789)[6]
  5. Charlotte Hulin (1792)[7]
  6. Henriette Hulin (1795)[8]
  7. Pierre Hulin (1797)[9]
  8. Philippe Hulin (1800)[10]
  9. Louise Hulin (1802)[11]
  10. Marie Azelie "Zelime" Hulin (c.1804)[12]
  11. Melanie Hulin (1806)[13]

In 1810 he and his wife, with three sons and four daughters, lived in New Orleans.[14]

One of his youngest daughters married in January of 1821, at which time he appears to have been alive.[12] No later records of him have been found.
