Corinne (Hanks) Istre lived in Louisiana.

Corinne Hanks was the second daughter of John Hanks and Carmelite Simon; she was born in Lafayette Parish, Louisiana on March 10, 1900, and baptized that summer in Rayne, Acadia Parish.^[1] In 1900 her family lived next door to her paternal grandparents, Joseph Hanks and Marie Simon.^[2]

Some time after 1900 and before 1910, the family moved to Acadia Parish, next door to Corinne's maternal grandparents, Norbert "Nawbear" Simon and Edmonia Judson. They may have had needed to move closer to Carmelite's family. Corinne and her older sister, Edna, soon had four younger siblings: "Alec", Gillis, "Bernie" , and "Ozie".^[3] Their mother may not have recovered from her last child's birth in late 1909, and may have needed her own mother's help from that point until her death in early 1911.

When Corinne's mother died in 1911 her father was devastated, and the family was split up. The youngest boy and probably the girls stayed next door with Norbert and Edmonia Simon, who still had several young children at home; the older boys, Alec and Gillis, went to live with one or more uncles.^[4]

Corinne married Clem Istre on July 1, 1916,^[5][6] and she brought her little sister Ozie to live with them.^[7]

In 1917 Corinne named her first child after her mother. She and Clem had eight children:

They lived in Acadia Parish, Louisiana in 1920,^[7] in 1930,^[14] in 1940 ^[11] and beyond.^[15]

Corinne Hanks Istre died March 16, 1961, and was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery in Crowley, Louisiana.^[16]
