Thanks for checking in.
I jumped right in and started creating profiles for my ancestors to see where it would take me. I'm a little overwhelmed.
Wikitree has so many tools and resources and I don't know where to begin.
I have hit a few dead ends because I cannot find maiden names for my ancestors.
It's fun but I have a looong road ahead of me. Well, at least I know I'm not related to Captain James Cook !!
Thanks Frank
I think we all get a little overwhelmed in the beginning. Just take it a profile at a time and you'll do fine. I know we have a lot of tools but we also have a great resouce with G2G. If you get confused just post in there or message me. We also have an indexed help section that I still use pretty much daily. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Help_Index
Hope it helps, Pam
I am very pleased to welcome you to the WikiTree family, your contributions will go a long way to joining the world together.
It is best to start with the New Member How-To pages, they will save you a lot of time and frustration.
You mentioned that you don’t know much about your family tree yet. I assume you are new to genealogy. No problem! Every genealogist is a beginner at some point. Take your time, keep track of sources and ask questions. Check here for tips.
I am here to answer any question you have, no matter how trivial you may think it is. There is no such thing as a silly question. Please add as much information as you can, it all helps to turn a “name” back into a person. I hope you enjoy the site as much as I do.
Happy tree climbing

PS Did you know that Tags become clickable links to others researching those names, or places, that you are interested in. They also control what is included in the family activity emails from WikiTree.
This is just a note to say hi and to let you know that I'm available to answer questions about WikiTree.

I'm just beginning my research and have a quick question. I haven't been able to find any online info about my family tree beyond my great-grandparents. There aren't any online marriage or death records showing the names of my great great grandparents. Is that common and what would be the next logical step? Thanks
Tommy
