Note: Spelling varied wildly before the 20th century. Anyone searching for ancestors in this family should consider alternative spellings: Clazey, Clazie, Clazy, Clezie, Clezy. The name has even been found as Clacey, Clacy, Claisye, Claise, Clasey, Clasie, Cleasie,Clisy, Clizzee.

Charles was born at Thurlow, Ontario, in 1867. The 1871 Canada census at Thurlow showed his birthdate was 1868. His father died about 1870, exact date not found. His mother remarried in 1877 to Henry Vivian but she died in 1879, leaving Charles an orphan at age 12.

The 1891 Canada census at Thurlow showed that Charles was a domestic servant, age 23. Sometime after that date, Charles left Ontario and moved west. In 1897 he lived on a homestead near Deloraine, Manitoba. The 1901 Canada census said he was single, a domestic servant for a family named Millar at Brandon, Manitoba.

Charles married Celia Carlson on 29 December 1909 at Morton, Manitoba. They moved to nearby Whitewater. But the 1911 census showed the married couple at Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan; 1916 census showed them at Kindersley, Saskatchewan. 1919-21 directories showed Charles Clazie lived at Vancouver, British Columbia.

The couple appear not to have had children. At some point, they returned to Manitoba, details unknown. They were shown in the 1931 Canada census at Morton, Manitoba (now part of the Boissevain-Morton municipality.)

Charles died on 21 December 1955 and was buried at Morton. Celia lived until 1976.

(Note the naming confusion: "Morden, Manitoba" is different from "Morton, Manitoba." Those municipalities are about 175 km apart.)
