Biography

Concetta Cimino is born 31 August 1880 and baptized the next day in Corleone. She is the daughter of Sebastiano Cimino and Rosalia Badolato. Her godparents are Salvatore Badolato and Biagia, his sister, both unmarried.[1] She is named after her paternal grandmother.

Concetta marries Saverio Guidera, son of Andrea Guidera and Rosalia Cuccia, who is also from Corleone, on 15 September 1898 in Manhattan. She is 18 and he is 21.[2]

Saverio and Concetta, who is also called Annie, have at least nine children: three sons named Andrew (c. 1903, c. 1906, and c. 1920), twins Sebastiano/Sebastian and Giacomo (1907), Rosalia/Rose (1909), Minnie (c. 1912), Lena (c. 1914), and Beatrice (c. 1916).

The first son named Andrew dies on 6 August 1903 in Manhattan at 346 E. 106th St., NYC. He is buried the next day in St. Raymonds Cemetery.[3]

Another son named Andrew, age 1, dies 29 April 1907 in the Bronx and is buried the next day in St. Raymonds Cemetery.[4]

Twins Sebastiano and Giacomo are born 12 April 1907 in the Bronx.[5][6] Giacomo does not appear in the 1930 census.

Saverio registers for the draft for WWI. He lives at 4310 Richardson Av, Bronx, NY. He is 41 years old, born 17 November 1876. He is a naturalized citizen, a mason and builder who works from his home address and owns his own business. His wife, Annie Guidera, at the same address, is his nearest relative.[8]

In the 1930 federal census of Yonkers, Westchester County, New York, taken 15 April, Saverio Guidera, 53 (b. 1877), heads a household at 76 Seminary Ave with his wife, Concetta, 48 (b. 1882), and their children: Sebastian, 23 (1907), Rose, 20 (1909), Minnie, 18 (b. 1912), Lena, 16 (b. 1914), Beatrice, 13 (b. 1917), and Andrew, 10 (b. 1920). He owns his home, worth $12,000. Saverio and Concetta married when they were 21 and 18, respectively. They were both born in Italy and immigrated in 1893; they are naturalized citizens. Their children were born in New York. Saverio is a contractor and builder. Sebastian is a bricklayer and builder. Rose and Minnie are stenographers.[9]

In the 1940 federal census of the Bronx’s sixth assembly district, taken 6 April, Saverio Guidera, 63 (b. 1877), heads a household at 750 E. 226th St. with his wife, Annie, 60 (b. 1880), and son, Andrew, 21 (b. 1919).
