Biography

Rosa Badolato is born around 1858 in Corleone, the daughter of Maestro Giuseppe Badolato and Antonina Fiducia.

Rosa marries Maestro Sebastiano Cimino, son of Maestro Francesco Paolo Cimino and the late Concetta Palermo, on 30 July 1878 in Corleone.[1]

Sebastiano and Rosa have at least three children: Antonia (c. 1885), Charles (c. 1890), Biagia (c. 1895).

Antonia is born around 1885 in Sicily, according to the record of her marriage.

Charles is born around 1890 in the United States, according to the 1905 New York state census.

Biagia is born around 1895 in Denison, Texas.

Antonia, who is called by her middle name, Lena, is 18 (b. 1885) when she marries Fortunato Lomonte on 17 December 1903 in Manhattan.[2][3]

In the 1905 New York State census of Manhattan (AD 32, ED 19) taken 1 June, Sebastiano Cimino, 47 (b. 1858), heads a household on East 106th St. in Manhattan with his wife Rosie, 47 (b. 1858). They were both born in Italy. Also at home are children Charles, 15 (b. 1890), and "Passie" (this is a match for Biagia, based on her age), 10 (b. 1895), both born in the US. Sebastiano is a stonemason, and Charles is a plasterer. Their close neighbors include Fortunato and Lena, Fortunato's parents, and Giuseppe Morello, who appears as "Joseph Terranova" in this census.[4]

Biagia is 21 (b. 1895) when she marries Giuseppe Lagumina, age 25 (b. 1891 in Corleone), son of Vincenzo Lagumina and Giuseppa Rumore, on 22 April 1916 in Manhattan. Her marriage record names Biagia's parents and her birthplace.[5]

Richard Warner et al describe Giuseppe Lagumina as an associate of Giuseppe Morello, along with his uncle, Giovanni Rumore.[6]

Biagia's sister, Antonia, is the widow of another known Morello associate, Fortunato lo Monte. After her husband is killed in 1914, Antonina and her children lived with Biagia and Giuseppe.[6]
