Biography

Francesca Castro is born around 1805 in Corleone, based on her reported age in 1811 and at her death. She is the daughter of Calogero Cascio and Giuseppa Monteleone.

In 1811, Francesca is five years old (b. 1806) and lives with her parents and younger brother on the Strada del Canc. Catinella. Living with them are Gaetano Monteleone, 51 (b. 1760), Carlo Lampo, 30 (b. 1781), his wife Miara Carmela, 18 (b. 1793), and their children Rosalia, 12 (b. 1799), and Antonino, 6 (b. 1805).

The following year's stato delle anime shows the family still living on the same street. Francesca and her siblings have all aged two years since the previous report.

Francesca marries Michaele Sabatino on 13 April 1823. Her parents are both living.

In 1838, Francesca stands as godmother to Giuseppa Milone. Giuseppa's mother, Felicia Castro, is Francesca's sister.

Francesca and Michaele have at least one child, Domenico (c. 1844), named after his paternal grandfather. Domenico is known from the record of his marriage, which does not give his age. I have estimated he is 20 years old at this time.

Michaele dies at age 60 (b. 1790) on 29 July 1850.

Francesca dies at age 54 (b. 1805) on 9 September 1859.

Domenico marries Orsola Catanzaro, a widow, on 12 June 1864.
