Biography

Giuseppe Cascio is born and baptized Joseph on 10 February 1875. He is the son of Biagio Cascio and Caterina Morello. His godfather is also his namesake and maternal grandfather, Giuseppe Morello.

Giuseppe's older cousin is the infamous gangster Giuseppe Morello (b. 1867), named after the same grandfather.

Giuseppe marries Biagia Cascio, his first cousin, on 18 November 1902. This record contains a dispensation due to second degree consanguinity. Both his parents are living at this time.

According to family lore, Giuseppe's family produces olive oil, which he and Biagia send to her family in New York, to sell to their neighbors there.
