Biography

Giovanna Cascio is born on 1 June 1880 in Corleone and baptized Joanna the same day. She is the daughter of Biagio Cascio and Caterina Morello.

Giovanna is named after Biagio's mother, Giovanna Giuffrida. She shares her name with an older sister who died in infancy, in 1871. See the Cascio Family Space for a short discussion on naming conventions.

Her godparents are her father's half siblings, Giuseppe and Vincenza Cascio, brother and sister.

When she is seventeen, Giovanna marries Pietro Majuri, on 13 November 1897. Her parents are both still living at this time.

Giovanna and Pietro have at least one child, Antonina (1898).

Antonina, named after her paternal grandmother, is born 7 October 1898 and baptized 15 October. Her godparents are Giuseppe Governali and Vincenza Saccaro, a married couple.

Giovanna Majuri, daughter of Pietro Majuri and Giovanna Cascio, dies 13 April 1914 in Corleone.[1]
