Biography

Maria Rosa Cascio (known as "Rosina" by the time she marries) is born and baptized 25 April 1883 in Corleone as Mariam Rosam. Her parents are Stefano Cascio and Bernarda Mondello. Her godfather is Stefano Ridulfo, who is unmarried.[1]

Passengers from Corleone sailing on the S.S. Marco Minghetti, sailing from Napoli 8 May 1901 and arriving in New York 25 May 1901 include Stefano, Bernarda, and two of their children. They are traveling with Gaetano Cascio, Rosalia Palazzo, and three of their children.

27. Stefano Castro, 52 (b. 1849), married, literate. (See the Cascio Name Study for a discussion of versions of the last name.) Destination his cousin Luca Di Palermo 1845 3rd W. Stefano reports having been in New York from 1888. 28. Bernarda Mondello, 48 (b. 1853), married to above. Illiterate, as are the children. Same destination as above. 29. Maria Rosa Castro, their daughter, 18 (b. 1883). Same destination as above. Fare paid by father. 30. Leoluca Castro, their son, 16 (b. 1885), single. Same destination as above. Rosina marries Domenico Guarino, son of Giuseppe Guarino and Lucia d'Anna, in New York on 7 October 1906.[3] The witnesses are Pietro Castro and Giovanna Castro.[4]
